IBEW, Teamsters & Machinists Endorse Joe Kennedy III for Senate

Boston, MA -- Just one day into his Senate candidacy Joe Kennedy III proudly announced the endorsements of three key Massachusetts labor unions: IBEW Local 103, Teamsters Local 25 and the Massachusetts State Council of Machinists. All three cited Kennedy's strong record of standing up for working families.

"There is no greater fight in this country today than for the working men and women our economy has left behind," said Kennedy. "For generations, American unions have served as a firewall between workers and abuse, exploitation, and injustice. I'm proud to carry this fight in my campaign and to center the voices of working people in the weeks and months ahead."

Kennedy has championed economic justice since being elected to Congress. From American manufacturing to vocational education, fair wages, corporate accountability and collective bargaining, he has fought tirelessly to ensure that working men and women have a voice in Congress. Across Massachusetts he has stood in solidarity with striking workers at National Grid and Stop & Shop, hotel staff in the Seaport and Martha’s Vineyard bus drivers.

Over the last year his calls for a 'moral capitalism' that puts economic power back in the hands of American workers have gained national attention.

Statement from IBEW Local 103:

"Massachusetts and our nation need a champion for workers in the U.S. Senate who will be there for years, even decades, to come. The time for a new wave and new generation of leadership in Washington D.C. is right now -- not next year, not six years down the road, but now. IBEW Local 103 members believe that the candidacy of Joe Kennedy III represents a unique, generational opportunity to give Massachusetts working families and labor unions a strong voice in the U.S. Senate for the long-term. The next generation deserves to have a Kennedy fighting for labor unions and working people at the highest levels of government for years to come. This has made a tremendous difference for prior generations -- and the next generation deserves the same."

Statement from Teamsters Local 25:

“Since his election to Congress, Joe Kennedy has been a strong advocate for workers’ rights and protections. Teamsters and all Massachusetts working men and women deserve and need a Senator who will put their interest first, protecting fair wages and benefits and provide emerging industries with a workforce for the future. Teamsters Local 25 strongly supports Joe Kennedy and is proud to endorse him for U.S. Senate.”

Statement from Massachusetts State Council of Machinists:

"The Massachusetts State Council of Machinists feel that you are the candidate that will best represent the issues and challenges that are facing the working families of the Machinists Union and those in Massachusetts. Thank you for demonstrating to us that you have the ambition and courage to stand up for working families in Massachusetts."
