Watertown, MA --- Peabody Mayor Ted Bettencourt endorsed Congressman Joe Kennedy III in his bid to join the United States Senate.

"Congressman Kennedy has shown himself to be a present and engaged leader here in the Commonwealth," said Mayor Bettencourt. "He pays attention to local issues, remains in contact with local leaders, and is a constant presence in our communities. He has demonstrated his willingness to show up whenever and wherever he is needed. With so many feeling frustrated and disparaged by our government, that level of commitment goes a long way. It's what we need here in the Commonwealth and why I'm proud to endorse Congressman Joe Kennedy for U.S. Senate."

“I’m grateful for Mayor Bettencourt’s support,” said Congressman Kennedy. “For the past few weeks, I’ve been traveling to every corner of the Commonwealth and spoken to so many that feel our government and our systems are working against them. I want to change that, to demand more from our government and champion the voices of those most in need of a champion. From advocating for investments in infrastructure to supporting the small businesses that are the lifeblood of our communities, I’ll fight for the hardworking families of Peabody.”

Currently in his fourth term as Mayor of Peabody, Mayor Ted Bettencourt has leveraged two Massworks grants to redesign Main Street and Peabody Square, and helped Peabody gain nearly six million dollars in state and local funds to improve downtown infrastructure. He also has prioritized public safety by adding additional firefighters to the ranks to ensure that each station has a minimum of 3 firefighters on duty at all times.
