Local support comes out before Kennedy Spanish-language town hall this weekend

WATERTOWN, MA -- Ahead of its first Spanish-language town hall in Lawrence this weekend, Kennedy for Massachusetts today announced a slate of Lawrence city councilors endorsing Congressman Joe Kennedy III for U.S. Senate.

“Since day one of this campaign we have committed to building the most inclusive, diverse and engaged grassroots operation in the race," said Kennedy. "The Lawrence leaders joining our team today are an essential part of that effort, bringing critical insight into the priorities, challenges and opportunities local families face. I am humbled by the show of support today and committed to working closely together in the months ahead."

The following Lawrence leaders announced their endorsements today:

City Council President Kendrys Vasquez

"I'm endorsing Joe Kennedy for Senate because he has made it clear he will fight every day for the people our political system too often leaves out and lets down. He and I share a deep commitment to bringing new voices into our policies and our politics and to making sure government at every level is truly representative of the people it serves. I know we can count on him to show up for Lawrence in the months and years ahead."

City Council Vice President Jeovanny Rodriguez

“Joe has spent his time in Congress on the frontlines of our Commonwealth and country's fight against the opioid epidemic and substance use disorders. He has relentlessly partnered with and advocated for the local communities, families, and leaders working day in and day out to stem this crisis. It's an example of the kind of leadership Joe brings to our most pressing issues -- empathetic, fully engaged, and closely aligned with the people at home. I'm honored to endorse him to be our next U.S. Senator."

City Councilor-at-Large Ana Levy

“Joe's commitment to elevating all voices is exactly what we need in a U.S. Senator from Massachusetts. At a time when too many of our people continue to face structural and systemic barriers to opportunity, I know that Joe will fight for every person that calls our city home. I'm supporting him today because I believe he will be more than an ally for the people of Lawrence -- he'll be a champion."

City Councilor Brian de Pena

“Joe understands the unique contributions Lawrence has made to our Commonwealth's history and the central role it will play for the future. He has spent his career in Congress fighting for proud Gateway Cities like this one. From education to public safety to transportation, he will show up for our families and the issues we live and breathe every day. I'm proud to support him today."

The Kennedy for Massachusetts town hall will be held on Saturday, Feb 1 at 2:00pm at Relief's In, 1 Market Street. Doors open at 1:30pm. To RSVP please click here. The event will be held entirely in Spanish, without the filter of translators.
