Kennedy mobilizes volunteers to make community check-in calls

As Massachusetts prepares for COVID-19 surge, Congressman Joe Kennedy III launches a phone banking effort to check-in on older residents

Here is the email sent out to supporters earlier today:

Hi,

There is no sugar-coating it. This is going to be a difficult few weeks for all of us. States across the country, including Massachusetts, are bracing for a surge in COVID-19 cases and those requiring hospital care.

These days can feel scary and disorienting for everyone. But for folks who are isolated, living alone, or in deep need—they are excruciating.

That's why our team is launching a new effort to check in with neighbors who are struggling right now. We're launching community phone banks across the state, and we'd love for you to join our program:

Sign up for our Community Check-In Phone Banks:

These phone banks will focus primarily on updating older adults across the state on the latest COVID-19 information – and ensuring they have food, medication, and other essential resources while self-isolating and social distancing.

For those who need help with things like grocery runs and prescription refills, our team will put them in touch with local organizations that can assist.

Ensuring people have the information, support, and resources they need to stay healthy and safe has been the priority of our campaign, since the onset of this crisis. The Community Check-In Phone Banks are the latest way we are working to stay connected throughout this difficult time.

We're getting started tomorrow, Tuesday, April 7. We'll be training folks and making calls across the state all evening. We'd love for you to join us.

Hope to "see" you there. Talk soon.
Team Kennedy
