This website is owned and operated by Kennedy for Massachusetts. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our visitors while they interact with the content on this site (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy applies to the Site only. It does not apply to other websites to which we link. Because we gather certain types of information about our users, we want you to understand what information we collect about you, how we collect it, how that information is used, and how you can control our disclosure of it. You agree that your use of the Site signifies your assent to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Site.

The purpose of this website is to share information about important political and policy issues in the U.S. and encourage individuals to participate in U.S. elections and the electoral process. Therefore, the petitions, surveys, and forms on this website are open only to residents of the United States with a valid U.S. zip code.

1. Information Collected

We collect information from you that you voluntarily provide to us. In order to sign up for email updates, you must submit personal information about yourself. That required information includes your first name, last name, email address, and zip code. Optional information includes your physical address and telephone number. We do not collect personally identifiable information about you except when you specifically provide such information to us on a voluntary basis.

By submitting that information to us, you consent to the use and method of disclosure as described in this Privacy Policy.

2. How We Use Your Information

Kennedy for Massachusetts only uses your personal information for the original purposes it was given. Your personal information submitted through the sign up for updates forms will not be sold to unaffiliated third parties. Your personal information submitted through the sign up for updates forms will be shared as needed and as required by federal election and other laws with unaffiliated third parties to fulfill the objectives and obligations of Kennedy for Massachusetts.

Your personal information submitted through the sign up for updates form will not be sold to unaffiliated third parties. You may opt out of receiving emails from Kennedy for Massachusetts (See Section 4).

Kennedy for Massachusetts may share personal information with our vendors and other third parties who need to know the information in order to deliver services on behalf of Kennedy for Massachusetts. Further, Kennedy for Massachusetts reserves the right to contact you regarding matters relevant to the underlying information collected. We may also share limited personal information with advertising partners in order to ensure that our ads are relevant to you. (For example, if you're already on our email list, we don't want to show you ads asking you to join our email list.)

We use non-identifying and aggregate information to better design our website and for business and administrative purposes. We may also use or share with third parties for any purpose aggregated data that contains no personally identifiable information.

All the above categories excludes text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

3. How We Protect Your Information

We are committed to protecting the information we receive from you. We take appropriate security measures to protect your information against unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure or destruction of data. To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we maintain appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information and data stored on our system. While no computer system is completely secure, we believe the measures we have implemented reduce the likelihood of security problems to a level appropriate to the type of data involved.

4. Privacy Rights for California Residents

Do Not Track

Under California Business & Professions Code Section 22575(b) (as amended effective January 1, 2014), California residents are entitled to know how Kennedy for Massachusetts responds to “Do Not Track” browser settings. We do not not currently take actions to respond to Do Not Track signals because a uniform technological standard has not yet been developed. We continue to review new technologies and may adopt a standard once one is created.

Categories of Personal Information Sold and Disclosed for a Business Purpose

We have not sold your personal information in the 12 months preceding the Effective Date of this Policy.

Personal information submitted through this website will be disclosed to our service providers and vendors, as governed by nondisclosure agreements with those service providers and vendors. Your data may also be disclosed with regulatory authorities as required by federal, state, and local laws.

In the future, we may share your personal information with other nonprofit organizations for campaign business purposes, including fundraising, publicity, sponsorships, e-commerce, or other campaign related activities, and in a manner consistent with applicable law.

As a nonprofit organization, we are not a “business” subject to the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”) that goes into effect on January 1, 2020. We do, however, strive to be consistent with the spirit of that law. If you have any questions, please contact [email protected]

5. Email Choice/Opt-Out

You may opt out of receiving promotional emails or text messages by following the instructions in those emails or text messages from Kennedy for Massachusetts. If you opt out, we may still send you other types of emails, such as those about your use of the Site or any donations or transactions.

6. Children’s Privacy and Parental Controls

We do not solicit any personal information from children. If you are not 18 or older, you are not authorized to use the Site. Parents should be aware that there are parental control tools available online that can be used to prevent children from submitting information online without parental permission or from accessing material that is harmful to minors.

7. Disclaimer to Security

By consenting to the Terms of Service of the Site and hence the Privacy Policy, you consent that no data transmission over the Internet is completely secure. We cannot guarantee or warrant the security of any information you provide to us and you transmit such information to us at your own risk.

8. Notification of Changes

Kennedy for Massachusetts reserves the right to change this Privacy Policy from time to time at its sole discretion. If at some point in the future, there is a change to our Privacy Policy, unless we obtain your express consent, such change will only apply to information collected after the revised Privacy Policy took effect. Your continued use of the Site indicates your assent to the Privacy Policy as posted.
